How Do You Clean Leather Garments Without Damaging Them?
My husband bought a lambskin leather jacket a while ago and kept it for a special occasion. He’s going on a trip soon, so he took it out of the wardrobe today and noticed these weird white spots on the leather.
The strange thing is, I never put it in a plastic bin or anything like that. It was just hanging in a wardrobe with some of our newer clothes, so I’m not really sure what happened.
I’m curious what everyone else does when a leather jacket, coat, or costume gets dirty.
Do you usually clean your leather garments yourself, just wipe them down, or take them to a professional? And what do you do when there’s an actual stain rather than just general dirt?
I’d especially like to know what products or methods you’ve had good or bad experiences with. I’d rather learn from everyone else’s mistakes before damaging another piece.

Since yours is lambskin, I’d be extra careful. Lambskin leather is much softer than some of the heavier jacket leathers, so I wouldn't start scrubbing the white spots. I’d first figure out whether they’re residue, moisture, mildew, or something affecting the finish and let it air dry first.
If you do…
