How Do You Store Costumes and Replica Outfits Safely Between Uses?

Hey everyone!

How do you guys store your costumes and replica outfits when you’re not using them for a while?

I’ve started wondering about this because some pieces are easy to throw in a closet, while others have leather, faux leather, structured parts, badges, belts, or accessories that can get damaged if stored the wrong way.

Do you hang everything, use storage boxes, garment bags, or something else?

Would be interesting to hear what has worked for everyone, especially for costumes you only wear once or twice a year.

Can you suggest some good bags and where to buy them?

Now that I’m reading this, you guys are scaring me because I store all my costumes in plastic containers too! 😂 But I do add those silica gel packets she mentioned, and my outfits seem to be fine so far. I think I need to check them again and maybe change the way I store them.

For me, vacuum sealing works the best. It gets rid of the air and works fine, but I always let everything air-dry for at least 2–3 days before sealing it, just to make sure everything is completely dry. And definitely silica gel packets too. I thought that was pretty common practice.

These bags work really well for me, but as I mentioned below, I only store clothes in them, not costumes. You can try a pack of these first and see if they work for your costumes. If they do, you can always order more.
